my Austin Healey BT 7, is registered as a 1960. The car is not original and was rebuilt from a series of other car parts. The car has the long bridge top (IE: Hook in rubber) The the vin plate is part of a different car. I am interested in identifying some of the parts. I do know that the engine # is 29F/RU/H4290. This equates to a number for an engine that was built after the 3 carb type was discontinued. My question has to do with the transmission. The car has a side shift transmission lever as in the MK 1 BT 7, and I do know that the later types went to a top shift lever. The transmission # is B1178. The Healey register does not have transmission numbers. Does anyone have a transmission, side shift that is somewhere in the batch of the type i am describing. I know that the later engine I describe could not have had the side shift lever but it would be interesting if I knew just what approxmate time or engine number my transmission (B1178) is from.
