1974 Jensen Healey RD

74 Jensen Healey Buttercup yellow, vin# 15385

Owned the car since 2001, came from California. The Jensen Healey uses a 1973cc Lotus Type 907, dual overhead cam, 4 cylinder, 16 valve, all-alloy power plant. This multi-valve engine has a claim to be the first to be used in a "mass produced" car. It provides approximately 144 bhp (107 kW), topping out at 119 mph (192 km/h) and accelerating from zero to 60 mph in 8.3 seconds. It has 66k miles on it. The Jensen Healey was one of very few cars in history to win the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) D Production Championship in its first year of racing. It would capture five of these championships in total, proving its inaugural win was no fluke. Ultimately the Jensen-Healey would stay in production from 1973 until 1976 when Jensen Motors ceased operations. Just over 10,000 cars were built and they remain affordable classics today.

The car has been painted – original buttercup yellow with Jensen Healey name on the lower sides. Other improvements include: New rebuilt water pump with turbo shaft (by Lotus dealer), New stainless steel hoses, 4 new Spax shocks, Rebuilt front end/tie rods, added roll bar, New top, and boot cover. I have a toneau, but have not fit it out. New dash board with a burled walnut veneer, Rebuilt glove box with galvanized metal, New Aluminum gas tank (won’t rust & no gas smell), rebuilt seats with new cushions, New interior & door panels, (2) gas hood supports (better than the original one strut), Rebuilt brakes, Original Jensen Healey wheels with center hubs, New Headlights, installed on relays, New T-stat 65 degree, New high performances exhaust system, New lug nuts for all 4 wheels, New blinker/horn lever (convert from MGB), Fiberglass front air dam (took off, very low clearance), Convert black gauge bezels to chrome, New battery, New high torque starter and a New alternator. Drives great, much invested.
