1966 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK III BJ8 plus 1964 AH3000 MK II BJ7
1966 Austin Healey 3000 Mk III Phase 2 BJ8 and nearly all mechanical parts to 1964 Austin Healey 3000 Mk II BJ7 plus fully optioned Jule frame setup for Phase 2 BJ8 suspension changes
BJ8 is 100% complete. There is a British Motor Heritage Trust Certified Copy of Factory Record indicating a July 1965 construction date. Chassis number, engine number and body number match. Car is a US Spec, LHD.
BJ7 is substantially complete (almost all mechanical parts and anything bolted to the chassis) absent frame and body panels. I have never inventoried all the boxes.
Jule Enterprises Healey frame, fully optioned. This frame appears to have all the panels and structures welded on that Jule used to offer as options. Frame has been primed and painted but never used. The invoice for the frame shows a total cost in 2001 of $10,751. The frame appears to have the addition of the attach points for the Phase 2 over axle radius arms.
Please look at the picture of the red BJ8 in the driveway. This is what the car looked like immediately before the engine was taken out. I show you the picture to give you an idea of what the car will look like after reassembly.
There are two engines, one of which has been overhauled by a machine shop that builds racing engines. It is ready to be re-installed.
There are three transmissions and two overdrives. Two transmissions have been disassembled for inspection. It appears that there are transmission parts sufficient to build a solid box and probably enough parts to build a satisfactory second box. Some additional parts will likely be required for Box #2.
One overdrive was disassembled, inspected and re-assembled.
BJ8 Soft top is in very good condition. Interior is new Ambla. Rugs need replacement. Glass is very good. Wire wheels, tires and many new parts are present. Dash requires refinishing. Instrumentation is complete and functional.
The BJ8 has minor accident damage that might require replacement of the pedal box section on the passenger side and the right front wing bracing is damaged in the engine compartment. This would affect panel alignment if you decided to fuss with it and you would want to replace the pedal box (which is readily available for less than $200).
The car drove fine before the engine was removed for overhauled. Even with the damage, the previous owner rebuilt the entire front suspension with new parts. When I got it, the car drove straight and braked straight. The frame has the usual dings and dents from sixty years of ricocheting off things in the road. The frame was set up with string lines and measured against the Healey shop manual dimensions and was found within spec.
There are sufficient parts to build almost two cars with some additions required (body panels, notably). There are a LOT of parts including some higher value things like a curved windscreen, extra carb set, radiator, rear axle and several clutch/pressure plate assemblies.
Hundreds of pictures available. I am very familiar with what I have and with the whole situation. The concept would be to build the BJ8, retain what you want from the parts inventory and sell the rest. There is about $20,000 of value in these remaining parts. Theoretically, selling all the left over stuff would give you a remaining basis in a daily driver BJ8 of $5,000.
I am happy to answer questions. Feel free to call. The BJ8 is definitely a project but it is 100% complete and can be easily reassembled. Project is located in Sarasota, Florida.
These pieces (BJ8 complete, BJ7 all I have and Jule Frame) are being sold as is for $25,000.
