1962 AH 3000 MKII BN7 BR
1962 Austin-Healey 3000 MK II one
of one, a true museum car. This is the only big Healey that has this distinction of being the only one because of the combination of being a 1962 three carburetors, 2 seater and German model. The A H 3000 MKII which was produced for less than a year and had three carburetors. Of the the over 5,000 that were produced that year, only 355 were the 2 seater BN7 MK II model. This is the only one of the 355 that is a German model. It has a few different features including, a locking steering wheel and the front has separate lights for the turn signal and the parking lights, rear lights a little different too and, a minor difference on the wheels (octagonal knock-offs) as required by German law. This Healey has the condition to match the rarity. It was ordered new by a US Army Officer stationed in Germany. The car was brought back to the US and stored in Missouri until I purchased it in 2002. This Healey was brought to Tenn and restored by a Friend and I, (we restored 8 before this one.). I have never found any rust on the car. Actually, the car has not been in the rain since 1974 and has only 46,000 miles on it. I make it a point to drive the car at least once a month, and for at least a few miles. I do not drive the car if the pavement is wet or if there are clouds in the sky.
Since it needed paint and a new interior, we just went ahead and restored all the mechanics. We rebuilt or replaced everything.
We installed new 72 spoke SS Tubeless chrome wire wheels and new tires. It has a good top, side curtains and tonneau cover.
The cars heritage certificate shows that it came from the factory Healey blue and we painted it back that color with off white coves. The only thing that was altered on the car, we did a louvered hood (see image) and everyone loves it. If you so desire, I have an extra factory hood that you can have to put it back to original. It has a 4 speed transmission w/electric overdrive.
I had the car observed during restoration and signed by the original British designer of the Austin-Healey and he says that it should be in a museum. Since I have gotten so old, I will let it go but only if I receive $99,000. Looks great, runs well, Everything works, A top value Healey. 865-6 nine 0-0 five 0 five . Bob Ricker ermail
