1967 - Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 MkIII
This old english white Austin Healey was purchased new in 1967 by David Brooks of Williston, VT. as his daily driver. Following his death in 1997 the Healey was garaged for several years until his family decided to sell it. Paul Dunnell, a member of the Austin-Healey Club of New England, brokered the sale of the car.
The following history was supplied to us when we purchased this 1967 BJ8 in 2008:
1. Engine restoration by David Clark, Sports Car Services, Westminster, VT.
2. Upholstery was replaced
3. Complete new paint job
4. New hood (top)
I purchased the Healey in January, 2008 (odometer reading of 123,360) as a retirement gift to myself. We joined the Austin-Healey Club of America and the New England Chapter and have enjoyed many Summits and other events.
Over the sixteen years that we have owned the Healey, I have done most of the maintenance and repair work myself with parts purchased from Healey Surgeons in Takoma Park, MD.
Significant upgrades during this time include:
1. Complete new exhaust system – 2009
2. New wire wheels - 2010
3. New gas tank – 2013
4. Rebuilt Tachometer and Speedometer (Nisonger Instruments, Mamaroneck, NY) – 2013
5. New steering column including gearbox – 2023
6. New tires - 2024
